Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso clears it out to the media that it is not the best time to discuss his next move.
Several reports are linking Alonso to take over the job as Real Madrid head coach. On Wednesday, Arsenal knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate win over two-legged quarter-finals.
As a result, there are questions over Carlo Ancelotti’s future as Real manager.
Last season, Alonso led Bayer 04 Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga title. This time around, too, he is in the German top-flight title race wth Bayern Munich.
Second-placed Leverkusen, with 63 points in 29 Bundesliga matches, are six points behind leaders Bayern.
“It’s not a good time to discuss the future. We’re at a very important moment in the season,” said Alonso.
With five games left in the domestic league season, there is still hope for Leverkusen to retain the title.
