It was a dark day in Bilbao on Wednesday (22 May) for Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim as the 20-time English champions lost the Europa League final 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur.
Brennan Johnson created history for Spurs with his first-half goal. It led Spurs to win the first major silverware since the 2007-08 Legaue Cup victory.
The North London side finished a poor domestic league season, where they are 17th in the PL, on a fine note.
However, for Man United, it was a huge problem as they lost a must-win game. Because just like Spurs, the Red Devils are too poor in the PL.
16th in the PL and losing all the possible silverware is not good. Amorim, since joining United mid-way, has seen the club go down.
However, he has made it clear that there is no plan to quit from his side.
Amorim said: “But I will not quit. I am really confident in my job. And as you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things.”
As there is no Champions Legaue football or European football to offer next season, getting quality players in the summer transfer window market would be a hard task indeed.
