Rayan Cherki has completed a power move in the short summer transfer window ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Manchester City signed the attacking midfielder for just £30m from Lyon. In the modern transfer market in football, such moves require a club to spend a lot of money.
Cherki, who made his debut for France last week, had a dream 2024-25 season with the French club.
20 assists and 12 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions make it clear the impact he had at Lyon last season. Rayan plays as a right winger, but can adapt to multiple positions.
Having signed the deal until the 2030 summer with the Sky Blues, the 21-year-old is available to play at the fast-approaching FIFA Club World Cup.
Cherki said: “This is a dream for me.”
“Honestly, to be joining a club like Manchester City and have the opportunity to make the next step in my career here is something very, very special.”
In October 2019, he made his pro debut after coming off the football academy of Lyon. He played 185 games for Lyon (29 goals and 45 assists).
