Out of all the big clubs in England, Manchester United Football Club has made the first power move with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer.
The Brazil international cost the Red Devils £62.5m. United are aiming to fill the gap of having a good striker with Cunha, who scored 15 goals for Wolves in the Premier Legaue last season.
In the 2024-25 season, the 13-time PL winners finished in the second half of the table. As they also lost the Europa Legaue final to Spurs 1-0 last month, Ruben Amorim’s side will not play in Europe next season.
Cunha’s signing has the possibility of boosting Man United’s forward structure and making it work in productive numbers, too.
As a manager, it is the first signing of Amorim. Looking at the previous 10 to 12 years of Man United in the summer transfer market, a crucial signing coming this early has set a positive tone.
