Spanish manager De la Fuente feels Lamine Yamal should win the Ballon d’Or after making a statement in Spain’s 5-4 victory over France in the Nations Legaue.
Yamal scored a second-half brace. The first goal was the penalty kick, and the second was the normal. Yamal enjoyed a great season at Barcelona (2024-25). He made them win La Liga and the Copa del Rey. They even reached the semis of the Champions League, where Inter Milan knocked them out.
Yamal, alongside Ousmane Dembele, Mohamed Salah and others, are in the race to win the Ballon d’Or. Not to forget that Yamal is just 17 years old. He will turn 18 on 13 July.
So, there is a chance that the 2024 Euro winner to win the Ballon d’Or at the age of 18.
De la Fuente told RTVE: “Lamine Yamal has made a statement tonight and shown that he should win the Ballon d’Or.”
Many experts even say that Yamal’s 17-year-old version is better than Lionel Messi (at 17).
