Ilkay Gundogan, who scored a brace in Manchester City’s 6-0 victory over Al Ain in the Club World Cup to reach the round of 16, cleared the air about his departure from the club.
Gundogan has said that he is happy at City, with a year left on his contract. The ex-German international did not look good last season for the Sky Blues. Hence, many might feel that Gundogan could leave the club.
Gundogan sees himself continuing to play at the highest level, which is a major positive overall.
He said: “I have one more year left on my contract and I’m very happy here.”
Gundogan staying at City could be decent for them to make new players get established well in the 2025-26 season.
He added: “I’m available, I’m fit – I want to play at the highest level for much longer.”
