For Tottenham Hotspur, winning the Europa League is the only hope to end the 2024-25 season on a fine note.
They are 14th in the Premier League, did not win the EFL Cup and are out of the FA Cup.
So to play in Europe next season, Spurs need to win the Europa League. At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, Ange Postecoglou’s side had a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hugo Ekitike opened the scoreline for the German side in the 5th minute. But the home side replied with James Maddison’s 26th-minute equaliser.
In the second, both sides were not able to score a goal. As a result, the first leg of the Europa League last-8 ended as a 1-1 draw.
Now Spurs have to beat Frankfurt in Germany to reach the semis.
After having a draw at home, Postecoglou said: “I’m resigned to the fact that the football gods have got their eyes elsewhere this year.”
“They’re obviously busy with other clubs and other managers, so whatever we get we’re going to have to do it without them this year.”
Postecoglou feels that Spurs have to do everything with extra hard work with no luck factor taking their side this season.
Meanwhile, Spurs will battle against Wolverhampton Wanderers (hosts) next in the PL on Sunday before facing Frankfurt in the second led next Thursday.
