Xabi Alonso gets the job of Real Madrid manager, leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen captain behind. Alonso replaced Carlo Ancelotti, who has become the new head coach of Brazil.
Alonso has arrived in Madrid with the honour of making Leverkusen win their history’s first Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season, alongside the German Cup too.
Alonso gets a three-year deal with Real, who were not able to win anything in the 2024-25 season. In the La Liga title race and the Copa del Rey, they lost to Barcelona.
When it comes to the Champions Legaue, Arsenal knocked Real out in the quarter-finals in the 2024-25 season.
He said: “It’s the start of an era.”
He added: “The Real Madrid fans are excited to begin this new era, to grow, and to make the history of this club even greater.”
Xabi Alonso knows the culture of Real well. Because, as a player, he served them from 2009 to 2014.
