Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher hailed Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe after he led the Magpies to a historical League Cup victory.
Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday to win silverware after a very long time. Den Burn and Alexander Isak scored one each goal to lead Newcastle in style.
Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa scored late in the second half. However, it was very late till then for the Reds to win the EFL Cup.
After the historic win, former Liverpool star Carragher did hail then NUFC boss.
Carragher said: “He’s done a brilliant job. I think he is the real deal.”
Howe took over as Newcastle Utd’s head coach in 2021. In 2022, Howe’s side made it to the final of the EFL Cup final. However, they lost to Manchester United 0-2.
From 2012 to 2020, the English manager played a massive role in making AFC Bournemouth a stable side in the English top flight.
Having won six FA Cup titles, this is the first EFL Cup title for the Mapaies, who last won any major silverware in the 1954-55 season.
Since the Saudi takeover, it is the first title Newcastle have won.
