Fabrizio Romano, who is the world’s leading football transfer journalist, has indicated that Manchester City are in progressive talks to sign Rayan Cherki, who is on national duty with France.
Cherki had a decent 2024-25 season with Lyon where he scored 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 outings in all competitions.
Other than Man City, their local rivals, Man United, have also shared an interest in getting the right winger.
Cherki has only played at the club for Lyon, having turned professional in 2019 as an academy player. Since then, he has scored 14 times in 146 Ligue 1 appearances.
He has been one of those who has seen growth in the last two years.
Cherki made his debut for France on June 5, where they lost the game 5-4. But the 21-year-old scored and assisted on his first appearance.
