Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming accepts failure in understanding the pitch at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium after they lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 50 runs on Friday.
Fleming pays attention towards CSK not being able to understand the overall behaviour of the pitch at home in the last few seasons.
Hence, the New Zealand cricket legend does not feel that there is any home advantage.
He said: “There’s no home advantage at Chepauk. We’ve won away from home a couple of times and we have not been able to read the wickets here the last couple of years. So it’s not new, we’re trying to come to grips each day with what we get and we don’t know.”
Chennai picked to bowl first after winning the toss. Not only did they allow RCB to score 196 runs, but managed to score 146 runs. As a result, the five-time IPL winners lost the game by a huge margin (50 runs).
However, on the same pitch, CSK beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets in their IPL 2025 opener.
