MS Dhoni, who captained the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier Legaue 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad went injured in the midway, won the final game of the season in style.
The five-time IPL winners beat the Gujarat Titans by a massive 83 runs in the final game of their regular season. The victory did not help CSK much as they finished at the bottom of the table with just eight points in 14 games.
But the massive 83-run defeat put GT in a hard spot to finish in the opening two spots.
Other than wicketkeeping, MSD was not able to create a mega impact with the bat. This is why several experts of cricket experts felt that the 43-year-old should retire from the IPL.
However, his former India teammate Robin Uthappa feels that Dhoni still has fire in his belly after hearing his post-match conversation on Sunday (May 25).
Uthappa said: “From what he said during the post-match presentation, it’s clear that the fire still burns to win championships, to play out there in the middle. Now it’s about going back and working on his body to bring it to the level he wants for the next IPL.”
In 2026, Dhoni will be 44 years old. Hence, the challenge to shine might be harder.
