Great Britain cricket team’s overall setup discussionsare underway for the 2028 Olympics, to be held in LosAngeles.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) areplanning things with Cricket Scotland to make the rightformation for the mega T20I event.
For the first time in the 21st century, cricket will be apart of the Olympics in 2028.
Trudy Lindblade, who is the Cricket Scotland chiefexecutive, told BBC Radio 4: “We have a really goodworking relationship with the ECB, so we havebeen in talks with them and in the process ofestablishing a Team GB cricket entity.
“That’s what’s required by the British OlympicAssociation (BOA) for a British team to compete atthe Olympic Games.”
The LA 2028 Olympics will stage cricket as a part of theT20 format with six teams. However, there is noconfirmation about the qualification process yet.
Meanwhile India are the T20 world champions, havingbeaten South Africa in the final last year.
In 1900, when Paris hosted the Olympic Games, cricketgot the first and only opportunity (beofre 2028) to be apart of the grand sports event. In the one-off finalmatch, Great Britain beat France by 158 runs.
