Brendon McCullum, who is the head coach of England (cricket), warns his players about not taking India lightly in the upcoming five-match Test series, starting June 20 at Headingley.
India will be playing the mega Test series away from home without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as they both retired from the longest form of cricket during the Indian Premier League 2025.
Shubman Gill is now the Test captain of India, taking the leadership role from Rohit.
Despite not having Virat and Rohit anymore in Test, McCullum sees India having all the tools to do well.
He told Sky Sports: “They’re an outstanding cricketing nation, who will come here with high hopes, and we are looking forward to seeing them.”
“It’s important the guys refresh. We know where we want to get to as a Test team.”
Star fast bowler Mark Wood will miss the opening three Test matches against India, while Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson will miss the opener (all due to injuries).
