Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou hits back at critics after beating FK Bodø/Glimt 2-0 away from home, winning the two-legged semis 5-1 on aggregate.
Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro blasted one goal each, away from home, making Spurs face Manchester United in the final.
The Red Devils outdid Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in the second leg and 7-1 overall.
Spurs and Man United have two things in common. First of all, they have shown poor performances in the domestic league. Second of all, both sides have reached the final of the Europa League.
However, in three games played this season, Man United have lost all three times while facing Spurs.
Postecoglou hints towards critics for being bitter about Tottenham reaching the final. He feels that domestic league performances should not be compared to the Europa Legaue.
He said: “It’s going to upset a lot of people isn’t it.”
“The debate’s now raging. The latest one is that neither of us will be able to get a trophy if we win, they’re just going to take a team photo because we’re not worthy.
“I mean, who cares if we’re struggling in the league? It’s a separate thing. It’s got nothing to do with league form.
“I couldn’t care less who’s struggling and who’s not. I think both us and Manchester United have earned the right to be there.”
Postecoglou holds the key to glory, via winning the Europa Legaue on the 21st of May at Estadio de San Mames.
As United have already faced Athletic Bilbao at Estadio de San Mames in the opening leg of the semis last week, they hold a slight advantage of knowing the arena better.
The winner of the Europa Legaue final unlocks the door to play in the Champions League next season.
