Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe sees some club players getting overpaid.
Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana Antony and Jadon Sancho (on loan to Chelsea) are some players Ratcliffe feels are getting much more than they should have been.
Ratcliffe is a childhood United fan, best known as the chairman of Ineos. In 2024, he paid huge sums of £1.3bn for a 28.94% stake at Manchester United.
Ratcliffe feels that some of the signings before his arrival are still making a burden. For one he pointed out where £17m payment to be made for Sancho’s Dortmund deal.
He said: “For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we’re paying £17m to buy him in the summer.”
Since Ratcliffe has taken over, the Red Devils have backed managers in the transfer market. But he is equally good at expressing his views overall.
Man United are in the bottom half of the Premier League table this season, with having 34 points in 28 games.
Ratcliffe has said that the club would get good targets this summer. However, he is indicating that United need overall changes to the core.
