Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has signed a fresh two-year contract with the Premier League club. The Egypt international was, otherwise, running off the contract in June 2025.
But now the Reds can use his services until the 2027 summer. This has given Arne Slot’s team a boost to make captain Virgil van Dijk also sign a new deal, with his contract expiring this summer alongside right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Unlike Trent, the Dutch defender seems keen to stay in Liverpool. However, the England right-back has a high chance of joining Real Madrid.
Salah, with 27 goals in 31 Premier League appearances this season, is leading Liverpool to their second PL title.
Staying for two more seasons, with seven games left in the 2024-25 PL season, means Salah can become the first Liverpool player to score 200 or 200 plus goals (PL).
He has scored 182 goals for LFC, with two extra goals (other than 182) coming during his time at Chelsea (2013/14).
Slot is happy with Salah’s decision and said: “He has shown at this club for so many years in a row how much of a value he is for the club and the team.”
With an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, Liverpool Football Club (73 points in 31 games) is in a comfortable position to win the PL title for the first time under manager Slot.
