MS Dhoni is 43 years old. His wicketkeeping for the Indian Premier Legaue still stands out. But the batting performances have taken a massive dip. Despite being an experienced captain, he has not been able to make CSK qualify for the playoffs.
They sit 10th in the PL table (bottom) and have lost 10 matches in 13 games. Ex-India player Sanjay Bangar feels that it is time for Dhoni to end his playing chapter in the IPL.
The cash-rich T20 format is the only event Dhoni plays in a year. And he has not said anything about the retirement plans.
As his association with CSK dates back to 2008, it is hard for the franchise to do anything against the former India captain’s wishes.
Bangar told ESPNCricinfo: “I mean, it all boils down to MS, but if I were MS, I would say enough that, okay, I’ve played whatever I wanted to play. I have looked after the interest of the franchise as well, if there is any, if that was the motivation.”
MS Dhoni has helped CSK win a record five IPL titles. But he is not able to shine with the bat. 196 runs in 13 matches do not indicate a good form overall.
