Digvesh Rathi is having a decent Indian Premier League debut season, taking 14 wickets from 12 matches.
He is known for his notebook celebration after taking wickets. It has made him get penalised and pay some percentage of the match fee.
In Lucknow Super Giants’ six-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rathi took the wicket of in-form Abhishek Sharma and performed his controversial celebration.
Abhishek did not fancy it and confronted the spinner. This made them have a proper box office battle on the ground.
As a result, Rathi has faced a one-game ban. Now the young Indian bowler will not be able to face the Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025, away from home.
It was the third time in the IPL 2025 that Rathi faced a fine. His 50 per cent of the match fees gets deducted.
Even Abhishek Sharma faced a 25 per cent cut in match fee. It was Rathi’s third Level 1 offence. But this time, it comes with a one-match ban.
After the game in Lucknow on Monday, BBCI’s Rajeev Shukla was spotted with Abhishek and Digvesh. The famous Indian politician and sports administrator was trying to sort things out between the two cricketers.
