Real Madrid star midfielder Jude Bellingham thinks the defending European champions have all the skills to reach the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday (16 April).
In the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last week, Arsenal (home side) outdid Real Madrid 3-0. Declan Rice blasted a free-kick brace and Mikel Merino added a goal in the second-half to make the scoreline 3-0.
Bellingham, who led Real Madrid to win the Champions Legaue title last season, sees these types of moments motivating the squad to shine in front of the home fans.
Ahead of the second leg, Bellingham said: “I’ve heard it a million times since last week, I’ve seen a million videos (Real Madrid’s several comebacks in the UCL) – it’s really motivating stuff.”
“It’s a night that’s made for Real Madrid.
“A night that would go down in history but also something that people are familiar with around this part of this world. Hopefully we can add another special night.”
In the European knockout ties, Real Madrid have only not made it to the next stage once when conceding three or more goals in the first-leg in the last five occasions.
The only time when they were not able to cross a similar hurdle was against Derby County in the last 16 back in the 1975-76 European Cup.
Bellingham, who plays with Rice when representing England, did hail the free-kick-taking ability of the former West Ham defensive midfielder.
“The free-kicks were surprising,” Bellingham said.
“I knew Declan could take set-pieces well, corners and stuff, but I’d never seen him do that. Fair play to him.”
