Harry Brook gets the responsibility to lead England in white-ball cricket. The 26-year-old batsman has replaced Jos Buttler as ODI and T20I captain.
Brook, who plays in all three formats for England, served as the vice-captain under Buttler’s leadership before getting the charge.
In 26 ODIs, Brook has scored 816 runs. When it comes to T20Is, the Yorkshireman has added 798 runs in 44 games.
His Test record is outstanding, scoring 2281 runs in 24 matches (58.48 average).
Rob Key, who is the managing director of England men’s cricket, said: “He’s been part of our succession planning for some time, albeit this opportunity has come slightly earlier than expected.”
“Harry is not only an outstanding cricketer, but also has an excellent cricketing brain and a clear vision for both teams that will help drive us towards winning more series, World Cups and major global tournaments.”
In Sep 2024, Brook captained England in the five-match ODI series in Buttler’s absence (injured).
Last year, he led Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
Brook expressed his views upon getting the new responsibility.
He said: “It’s a real honour to be named England’s white-ball captain.”
