The Football Writers’ Association 2025 awards go to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s (women’s) Alessia Russo, becoming the player of the season for the men’s and women’s categories.
In just 35 Premier League games, Salah has scored 28 goals and assisted 18 times to lead Liverpool to the Premier League glory.
900 FWA members voted heavily in Salah’s favour, with a 90 per cent margin.
Last month, he signed a two-year deal with Liverpool until 2027. Salah is the first player since Arsenal and Premier League legend Thierry Henry to make a hat-trick of winning this award.
England’s Russo has made a mega impact in the Women’s Super League this season, with 12 goals. Russo’s Arsenal are second in the WSL table, with 45 points in 21 games. They are 12 points behind the leaders, Chelsea, with just one game left in the 2024-25 season.
Russo beat Khadija Shaw, last year’s winner, for this prestigious award.
Mariona Caldentey of Arsenal came third on the list, followed by Millie Bright in the fourth spot.
