It was another fantastic Copa del Rey final. The Saturday evening contest at Estadio La Cartuja worked for Barcelona, as they beat Real Madrid 3-2.
Pedri’s 28th strike for FCB was the only goal scored in the first half. However, Kylian Mbappe came stronger in the second half and added a goal in the 70th minute. Real then did make the lead 2-1, thanks to Aurelien Tchouameni (77’).
2024 Euro winner Ferran Torres scored the equaliser six minutes before the end of the second half – 84th minute.
The game then went to extra time, where Jules Kounde blasted the winner in the 116th minute.
As a result, Barcelona did gain a 3-2 lead. In the end, things became very hostile to the point where Antonio Rudiger, Lucas Vazquez and Jude Bellingham received the red card.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick did enjoy every moment of the game.
“I’m happy for my team and for the great work the players have done. It was absolutely incredible the way they fought, how they managed to come back… I’m very proud of my team,” Hansi Flick told reporters.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will face Inter Milan at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in the first leg of the Champions Legaue semis (Wednesday).
