Joelinton will not play any game most likely in the 2024-25 Premier Legaue season, Eddie Howe confirms.
The Brazilian was not a part of Newcastle United’s 3-0 victory over Ipswich last week. There are still four games left in the Premier League season. Hence, Joelinton’s miss might hurt the Magpies’ qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Joelinton has featured 29 times in the Premier League for Eddie Howe’s side this season.
“With Joe you never rule him out. He’s so motivated to try and come back,” Howe said.
“We sought specialist opinion, and the opinion was it was nothing serious but he needed a period of rest so he’s now in Brazil.
“We’ll wait and see if we can get him back before the end of the season but the likelihood is probably not.”
62 points in 34 PL games have placed Newcastle third in the Premier Legaue table. They must win the last four games of the PL season to open the UCL spot.
Hence, Joelinton’s injury is a huge matter of concern for the 2025 EFL Cup winners.
