Last week, the Indian Premier League 2025 final was supposed to take place on May 25. But as the geo-political battle between Indian and Pakistan heated up last week, the IPL suspension got activated for some days.
The normal games resume on May 17, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosting Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As the venue of the playoffs and final will be decided in the coming days, the regular season games will be hosted in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
The return of the cash-rich league has been seen as a positive overall.
Other than two Sundays, there will be no doubleheader.
The BCCI said: “The BCCI takes this opportunity to once again salute the bravery and resilience of India’s armed forces, whose efforts have enabled the safe return of cricket. The Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest while ensuring the successful completion of the league.”
The playoffs will start on May 29. There were some reports last week that it might take until September to host the remaining IPL matches. However, the BCCI’s impressive planning turned all those reports into a cold bag.
