Former Manchester United striker called Ruben Amorim “naive” after getting out of the race for the FA Cup.
Fulham FC beat Man United 4-3 on penalties in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Both sides had a 1-1 draw that led to the penalties to decide the game.
After losing the game Amorim said: “I know we are losing games but the goal is to win the Premier League again. I don’t know how long it will take. We have a goal and we continue forward no matter what.”
However, Man United legend Wayne Rooney did not like this statement as he feels winning cups is crucial for any side.
“I think it’s a little naive to say they’re looking to win the Premier League because from where they are now, they’re a long way off that,” he said.
This was the 10th loss in 24 games for Amorim at the Red Devils.
Other than the Europa League, there is nothing that MU can win this season. It is also the only way for them to play in Europe next season.
The FA Cup defeat is being seen as a major hit for the club. United will next Real Sociedad in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 on Thursday.
