George Foreman was not just an icon for 1970s kids, but a worldwide boxing legend. Foreman left this brick-and-mortar world at the age of 76.
The 1968 Olympic Gold Medalist won WBA, WBC, and The Ring heavyweight titles for the first time in 1973 when he beat great Joe Frazier.
His first defeat came in the 41 professional fight when Muhammad Ali shocked the world with a massive eight-round knockout win over Foreman.
The defeat did hit him hard, taking retirement from boxing in 1977. But the legend came back in 1987, becoming the oldest world heavyweight champion in every – 46 years and 169 days old.
‘Big George’ was known for his mega punch power and never-say-die attitude.
His family shared the sad news first via Foreman’s Instagram handle.
