In the sporting world, there are not many events like the NFL Draft. It is the stage where several teams fight to get the best-in-class players.
The event, which runs for three days, will be hosted at the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue in 2027. In 2015, the NFL made a major decision to ensure that the NFL drafts take place in different cities. And for Washington, this is the landmark first chance to host the event for 2027.
The United States President Donald Trump said: “I’m pleased to reveal that the 2027 NFL Draft will be held right here, in our nation’s capital, Washington DC, on the National Mall.”
“I don’t think there’s ever been anything like that. It’s going to be beautiful. It’s going to be something that nobody else will ever duplicate.”
Three months back, in February 2025, Trump came to watch the Super Bowl and became the first US President to do so.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell went to the White House for this major update. He was joined by Josh Harris; the Washington Commanders major owner, and Muriel Bowser; DC mayor.
Goodell and Harris have made a huge claim that the event might see over one million fans in attendance. Last year’s draft saw 775,000 people being a part of this mega showdown.
It was higher than last month’s 2025 NFL draft, with 600,000 in attendance in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“The NFL Draft has become a marquee event, uniting fans across the country and around the world,” Goodell said.
The next NFL Draft for 2026 will run from 23-25 April in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
