Jannik Sinner won the 2025 Australian Open, defending his title, and accepted a short ban in February for his two failed drug tests in 2024.
After agreeing with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), he faced allegations from the fans. Because last year, he won the US Open too.
The ban on Sinner ended last Sunday, and he is free to play professional tennis. After the Aus Open, the ban did not allow him to play at any event.
The 23-year-old Italian will make his return at the 2024 Italian Open on May 9. His opponent is yet to be decided.
When asked about the doping situation, Sinner said: “Of course when you go to court it can go both ways – nothing or a lot.”
“I didn’t want to do it (agree a settlement) in the beginning, so it was not easy for me to accept it because I know what really happened.
“But sometimes we have to choose the best in a very bad moment, and that’s what we did.
“For me personally it’s good news that there are not the Grand Slams included.”
As there are still three majors left in 2025, the fans have keen interest in his comeback.
