It was another major setback for the Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday as they lost to the Gujarat Titans by 39 runs at the Eden Gardens.
Chasing the massive target of 199, the defending champions (IPL) managed to score 159 runs at the cost of eight wickets in 20 overs.
This was their fifth defeat of the IPL season, which has placed them seventh in the table. Winning just three of the eight games shows the poor form KKR are having.
Andre Russell and Rinku Singh have not stepped up when required, making mentor Dwayne Bravo think about finding the right batting combination.
“It’s a concern. Definitely, those are things that are discussed. You always try to bug the players who have been there and done it before. There is a fine line between bugging a player and trying to come up with the best combination. We can also try to make some changes, necessary adjustments to give the team that spot that is missing,” Bravo said.
Bravo felt the KKR bowlers letting GT score 198 runs in 20 overs was fine, but the batsmen were not able to contribute the smoothly as best.
Meanwhile, KKR’s next battle will be against the Pubjab Kings on Saturday.
