Pep Guardiola feels that qualifying for the Champions Legaue is crucial for Manchester City, but there is still the FA Cup task.
Hence, the Citizens are approaching every game intending to win and then moving ahead.
Man City beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday. Bernardo Silva opened the scoreline for the home side in the 7th minute. However, Marcus Rashford’s 18th-minute penalty made the scoreline 1-1.
In the second half, there was no goal scored in the regular time. It felt as if City and Villa would share a 1-1 draw.
However, Matheus Nunes scored the late goal in 90+4 minutes and won the game 2-1.
As Man City did get three crucial points, Guardiola said: “Qualification for the Champions League is important, of course, but sometimes we have to be calm. We must focus on the semi-final and after we have days to prepare for the four ‘finals’. Two at home, two away.”
On Sunday, Man City will face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup final.
After 34 games, Man City have collated 61 points. They are one point ahead of fourth-placed Forest, who have played one less PL game than the Citizens.
As City are out of the Champions League and did not win the EFL Cup, winning the FA Cup and finishing inside the top four would be best to end the season on a fine note.
