Missing Stephen Curry has proven costly for the Golden State Warriors as the Minnesota Timberwolves outdid them 117-93 to level the battle 1-1.
In the first game of the NBA Western Conference semi-final, Curry faced an injury during the game. But the Warriors managed to win the game.
Julius Randle led the Timberwolves in style, with 24 points and 11 assists. Randle got the support from Anthony Edwards, contributing 20 points, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scoring 20 points after coming off the bench.
After winning the game, Edwards told the media that they watched the first game very closely (which they lost) to see the scope of comebacks.
Edwards said: “We saw that it wasn’t just that we didn’t make shots, it was our defensive pressure and intensity; we didn’t bring it.”
Minnesota started the game in style, taking a 25-7 lead. By the third quarter, the Warriors did make it well with 62-55 behind. But this was not ample to make them win the game.
Chris Finch, who is the Timberwolves’ coach, was pleased with his team’s comeback.
He said: “We looked a lot more like ourselves.”
“The start was great, that’s what we needed to set the tone. We were pretty consistent with everything other than the beginning of the second half.
The injury-hit Curry saw the game from the bench. He is most likely to miss a week, which is a huge matter of concern for the Warriors.
