Erling Haaland got injured in the second half against AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarters last weekend.
Haaland’s Man City beat the Cherries 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium, reaching the semis.
However, in the 61st minute of the game, the former Dortmund striker was taken off the pitch due to an injury. Early in the second, he even scored the goal that levelled the scoreline 1-1.
On Tuesday, manager Pep Guardiola told the media that Haaland’s ankle injury would take up to seven weeks to heal.
“They told me the doctors say between five to seven weeks,” said Guardiola. “So hopefully the end of the season and by the Club World Cup he will be ready.
“Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It happened all season.”
However, on Monday, Man City were hopeful to see Haaland back in action before the end of the 2024-25 season.
But now he can feature for Man City at the FIFA Cup World Cup, which will take place in mid-June.
Haaland is one of the leading and most consistent performers of manager Guardiola in the 2024-25 season.
Hence, losing him now impacts their FA Cup run too as it is the only silverware Man City can win this time around. In just 28 PL games this season, he has scored 21 goals.
