India cricket legend Harbhajan Singh thinks that the Chennai Super Kings do not have a winning formula every time with captain MS Dhoni, as the overall squad is not the same as it was before.
Harbhajan said: “People think MS Dhoni carries a winning injection in his pocket, but they should understand the current squad is not good enough to fight for the title. Earlier, they had a champion team.”
The five-time IPL winners are out of the play-offs after losing the match against the Punjab Kings by four wickets at home on Wednesday.
Chasing the 191 total, Punjab won the game in 19.4 overs. It was CSK’s eighth defeat in 10 IPL 2025 games. As a result, they sit at the bottom of the IPL table.
In IPL’s history, it is the first time ever CSK have failed to make it to the playoffs in two straight seasons. In 2024, CSK finished fifth and missed the play-off spot.
The Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the only two teams that have won the IPL titles five times each.
