Liam Delap joined Ipswich Town from Manchester City in 2024. His debut season with the Tractor Boys has worked well, scoring 12 times in 31 Premier League outings.
However, Ipswich’s relegation from the English top-flight will trigger Delap’s £30m release clause. Newcastle United seem interested in the England U21 striker (per Telegraph).
The 22-year-old striker has a chance to score 15 goals in a PL season, which would make him one of the best number nines in England.
As Alexander Isak might be leaving the Magpies this summer, Delap might seem a decent replacement for Eddie Howe’s side.
From 2020 to 2024, Delap played twice for the Sky Blues as he served the loan spells at Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City.
Delap is a tall six feet and an inch striker, giving him an edge in the English top-flight.
Ipswich are holding the 18th PL position, with 21 points in 33 games. They are 15 points behind 17th-placed West Ham United.
The Hammers need just one point to make sure that Ipswich Town FC gets relegated, as they can get max 36 points.
It will make them join Leicester City and Southampton as part of the relegated PL teams.
