Arsenal have taken advanced steps in negotiations to make Martin Zubimendi sign a deal (as per ESPN).
Zubimendi, who was a part of Spain’s Euro 2024-winning campaign, hold the contract until the 2027 summer with Real Sociedad.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder became a part of Real Sociedad in 2020, coming from their youth academy.
Over the last four to five years, he has helped Sociedad to compete in La Liga and European competitions.
The Spanish international might be the replacement for Thomas Partey, whose future is not clear with the Gunners.
Arsenal, with 67 points in 34 PL games, would finish most likely in the second spot. As a result, Zubimendi would have a chance to play in the Champions League.
Zubimendi’s arrival could benefit Declan Rice to play in the attacking midfielder role next season.
Playing Paris Saint-Germain in the UCL semis has given them a chance to win this mega title for the first time.
