Liverpool manager Arne Slot is not getting carried away with the fact that winning the match against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday will make them the Premier League champions for the 2024/25 season.
Second-placed Arsenal, with 67 points in 34 Premier League games, can get max 79 points. It means that even a draw can work wonders for them, as 80 points means Liverpool have won the league.
So if not a win, a draw will also work well for Slot on Sunday. And it will be an historical moment for him as no LFC manager has won the PL title in his first season in-charge.
This will aslo mean that Liverpool win the English top-flight title with four games in hand.
Speaking ahead of the game, Slot said: “I get these questions, then it comes to your mind, of course. But that’s the last thing you think about as a manager at this point of time. The only thing I think about is hopefully all the players are available and prepare them.
“I know how hard it was to win against a team (Leicester City) that was close to relegation. It was hard to get the win over the line. I am not getting carried away at all.
“We’ve faced Tottenham already three times, I know how hard it is to beat them for us. That is where my main focus is on. “
In the 2019-20 season, then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp led the Reds to win their first-ever PL title. Winning the domestic league title will be huge as this will be Liverpool’s 20th top-flight title.
They will become the first side after rivals Manchester United to hit the milestone.
