Nicholas Pooran, who scored power-packed 70 runs in just 26 balls, feels that he is blessed with bat speed and there is nothing special he has worked on to master this skill.
Pooran came to bat when opener Aiden Markram lost his wicket after scoring just one run. As the target to chase was 191, the 29-year-old batsman scored a fast half-century alongside Mitchell Marsh (52 runs).
He said: “I just try my best to get in good positions and if it’s there, just time the ball nicely. In the last nine years I have been working on my craft. Obviously, I have been getting the opportunity to bat higher up in the powerplay as well. It is really important to cash in when the wicket is nice and obviously when the match-up is there you try your best to execute your skills.”
After losing the season’s opening game against the Delhi Capitals by just one wicket, LSG came back stronger in the second game and won it by five wickets.
Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered the first defeat of the season, after winning the opening match against Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs.
Despite Rishabh Pant only scoring 15 runs, LSG managed to win the game in 16.1 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
