Manchester City left-back Matheus Nunes feels that the Champions League qualification is their main goal. However, they are not taking the FA Cup semi-finals for granted.
The Sky Blues will face Nottingham Forest at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semis this Sunday.
However, it is the Champions League qualification they are aiming highly. City have 61 points after 34 games, holding the third spot in the Premier League.
Winning the remaining four English top-flight matches would be ample to make a top-four finish and feature in the UCL next season.
Nunes said: “It’s important to go and win the semi-final but I think our main goal is the Premier League, to try to qualify for the Champions League.”
“We are not looking to the FA Cup as a secondary thing, but our main focus is to win the remaining four league games.”
It was the 2010-11 season when the Citizens failed to qualify for the Champions League. And for such a high-profile team, playing in the Europa League might not look that great.
They can even qualify for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. In the other semi-final clash, Crystal Palace will face Aston Villa.
