It seems that the Chennai Super Kings might find it hard to bounce back after facing their seventh defeat of the 2025 Indian Premier League season.
Dewald Brevis’ 42 runs and Ayush Mhatre’s 30 runs did show some strength for the home side, who lost the toss and hence had to bat first.
Other than Brevis and Mhatre, it was all a flop show by the CKS batters. Even Captain MS Dhoni scored just six off 10 balls.
In a super-crucial match, Harshal Patel clinched four wickets and led the SRH bowlers to stop CSK at 154 in 19.5 overs.
Unlike the home side, SRH did not find the 155 target hard to chase. Ishan Kishan played a match-winning knock of 44 runs in 34 balls, backed by Kamindu Mendis’ unbeaten 32 runs and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 19 not out.
The collective contribution of the SRH batsmen led them to win the game by five wickets, winning the third game of the IPL 2025 season.
The victory has placed SRH in the eighth spot, with six points after nine matches. Meanwhile, for CSK, four points after nine games show their utterly poor form.
