India captain Rohit Sharma, after winning the 2025 Champions Trophy, cleared that he has no retirement plans.
India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.
Rohit added a massive 76 runs in 83 balls, helping his team to chase a total of 252 runs in 49 overs.
After winning the game versus New Zealand, captain Rohit had a press conference.
He said, when asked about retirement plans from OD: “One more thing. I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure there are no rumours spread moving forward. Thank you so much.”
In 2024, Rohit led India to win the T20 World Cup in West Indies. After winning the massive tournament, Rohit retired from the T20I format.
Hence, many did predict that he could retire from ODI too.
In 2023, India reached the ODI World Cup final but lost to Australia. The 37-year-old batsman had said previously that his biggest goal is winning an ODI World Cup.
Back in 2011, when India won their last ODI WC, Rohit was not a squad member. Only Virat Kohli from the current team was a member of the 2011 World Cup-winning team.
It seems that the 2027 World Cup is something Rohit is aiming for. And his form in ODI seems good too.
