England football legend Alan Shearer thanked Inter Milan and Barcelona for producing one of the best names in football history.
Inter won the second leg 4-3, advancing to the semis with an aggregate of 7-6. Last week, Inter and Barca shared a 3-3 draw in the first leg.
The home started the game well with the first-half strike of Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu (Penalty).
But the second half was utilised well by Barca players. Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, and Raphinha scored a goal each. This gave the visitors a 6-5 lead. When most Inter fans started to lose hope, Francesco Acerbi added a massive strike (90+5’) and took things to extra time.
Then, in the 99th minute, Davide Frattesi scored the winner and took three-time European champions to the final.
As the game was nail-biting, Shearer felt extremely pleased.
He said: “It gave us everything. From start to finish last week to this week, everything about this semi-final has been pure entertainment.”
He told Amazon Prime: “We expected a good game, but this? Thank you Inter Milan, thank you Barcelona for providing us with incredible entertainment and two great football matches.”
The winners of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal will battle against Inter in the UCL final. PSG won the opening leg of the semis 1-0 away from home last week.
