The Football Association’s decision regarding transgender women’s football controversy has come. From 1 June, transgender women can’t take part in women’s football.
In April, the FA made hard rules for transgender women to feature in women’s football. The mega decision came after the UK Supreme Court made it clear the definition of a woman is based on bio sex.
The FA said: “This is a complex subject, and our position has always been that if there was a material change in law, science, or the operation of the policy in grassroots football then we would review it and change it if necessary.”
“We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game.”
Several football pundits felt that women’s football should not have transgender women as they have an advantage.
Many of them feel that the FA should make a difference league and system for transgender women to compete and play sports like men and women.
