Dmitry Bivol, who outdid Artur Beterbiev in the rematch on 22 Feb 2025 at The Venue Riyadh Season, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is ready for a trilogy.
The match-anticipated rematch saw Bivol finishing the 12-round fight versus Beterbiev very well. As a result, the 34-year-old pugilist became the “Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion.”
On 12 Oct 2024, it was Beterbiev who won a close contest against Bivol and became the first-ever Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion.
However, Bivol’s team did not feel in Oct that they lost that fight. This made the rematch even more interesting for the fans as well as boxers. Not for forget it was the first-ever defeat in Bivol’s professional career as a boxer.
And this time around, it was Beterbiev who saw the first defeat of his pro boxing career. The judges scored the rematch 114-114, 116-112, 115-113 in favour of the challenger (Bivol).
After winning the fight, Bivol talked about that he is ready for the third fight with Beterbiev or any other boxer.
Bivol said: “We Need The Trilogy!”
In 2023 and 2024, there were talks about Bivol’s rematch with Canelo Alvarez. Mexican great Alvarez lost to Bivol in a one-sided 12-round fight on 7 May 2022.
Canelo now holds a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. It means that if the Mexican boxing sensation wins his up-and-coming fights, a mega fight with Bivol can happen.
However as of now, Canelo’s fight with Terence Crawford is a hot topic in boxing. As per many media reports and boxing pundits, the fight between Canelo and Crawford can take place in September 2025.
As the rematch between Bivol and Beterbiev was like a chess match, a third fight seems possibility.
