Franco Colapinto has replaced Jack Doohan for Alpine, leading for the next five races in the Formula One 2025 season.
Alpine signed Colapinto last winter from Williams. Starting with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola on 16-18 May, Colapinto and Pierre Gasly would race together for Alpine.
It means the change will take place from the British Grand Prix, 4 to 6 July.
Doohan has not scored even one point for Alpine, which is a huge matter of concern.
Hence, the reason Colapinto gets five chances to showcase his worth and get permanency.
Flavio Briatore, who holds the position of Alpine executive adviser, siad: “Having reviewed the opening races of the season, we have come to the decision to put Franco in the car alongside Pierre for the next five races.
“With the field being so closely matched this year, and with a competitive car, which the team has drastically improved in the past 12 months, we are in a position where we see the need to rotate our line-up.
“We also know the 2026 season will be an important one for the team and having a complete and fair assessment of the drivers this season is the right thing to do in order to maximise our ambitions next year. “
Doohan will be part of the team, but as a backup.
