At Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix, it was another bad show for Ferrari as neither of their drivers managed to make a sound impact.
Making things worse, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc had a massive mismanagement. As Hamilton was finding it hard to match Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, his team directed him to allow Leclerc to go ahead.
However, Hamilton did not like the way he was told late to make the very move. The seven-time Formula One champion driver said after the GP that he has ‘fire in his belly’ to be the best once again.
Hamilton has said many times that Ferrari need to provide a better car for them to win races. At present, they hold fifth to sixth position in most races.
Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri won the race in Miami and kept the impact of McLaren at the top.
Even though it seems that this learn belongs to McLaren, as both Piastri and Lando Norris are winning race after race.
Hamilton said: “I’ve still got my fire in my belly. I could feel a bit of it really coming up there.
“I’m not going to apologise for being a fighter. I’m not going to apologise for still wanting it. I know everyone in the team does, too.
“I didn’t think the decision came quick enough. And for sure, in that time you’re like, ‘Come on!’ But that’s really kind of it.
“I have no problems with the team or with Charles. I think we could do better. But the car is not where we really need to be. Ultimately we’re fighting for seventh and eighth.”
These are strong words used by Hamilton, who is one of the top two (best) F1 drivers of all time.
