After facing a humiliating 8-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians on Monday away from home, Kolkata Knight Riders’ rising star Ramandeep Singh feels that he can work well for the team as an opener.
KKR lost the IPL opener to Royal Challengers Bengaluru but came back stronger against Rajasthan Royals last week.
However, the recent defeat to MI has made KKR lose two of their first three games in the Indian Premier League 2025.
Ramandeep, who helped KKR win the IPL title last season, feels that his batting as an opener would work best for his team.
In 3 IPL games this season, Ramandeep has scored just 28 runs. However, he is playing lower in the batting order.
He said (translated from Hindi to English): “I want to open the batting. I always try to bat up the order.”
He then said that he would bat where the team feels comfortable and try to do his best for the defending IPL champions.
Ramandeep added: “We have a set combination, I am ready to bat anywhere the team wants me to. I will to produced match-winning knocks there.”
Ramandeep joined KKR in 2022, helping the team win their third and his first IPL title a season later.
With just two points in six IPL games and a poor run rate, KKR sit 10th (bottom) in the table.
